Shooting The Moon

Feb 21
Uncategorized

Ive tried a few times to get nice clear pics of a full moon.
Most not that sucessful.

Im using a 20d with 300L IS with an x1.4 making it 672mm

Ive tried a few / many different combinations of iso/speed/aperture etc
also i use mirror lockup with a tripod with a remote, raw and jpg’d too

Anyone any ideas of the best camera settings ?
I read 100iso 1/125th @ f8 which was sucessful but could definately be bettered

I am aware this is a hard subject to shoot and also there is a lot of dust / debris between myself and the moon making focus a little difficult

The best ive done sofar is with my 70-200L and enlarged it with a few PS tweeks

Shooting RAW Facts

Feb 21
Uncategorized

Hello ,

i’m relative new photography , my camera body is a 20D i’ve been for a wile searching for information abot the best format to shot and yhe most recommended between professional and amateur is RAW format over JPEG.

I recently found this info from a we;; know professional photographer (weeding):

CANON EOS10/20D SETTINGS
My recommendation for all Canon 10D/20d for greatest midrange detail and optimum workflow up to 10×15″ prints:
Parameter 1: SETUP:
SIZE – Medium Stairstep
SATURATION – MINUS 1
CONTRAST – MINUS 2
SHARPNESS – PLUS 2
FLASH – E-TTL with no exposure compensation
METEING MODE: Multizone (eyeball with two parenthesis)

My question is : does this setting will affect or improve your qualiy pictures if you shoot in RAW format?? i guess no , but now i’m a little confused.

thank you in advance.

Ruben

Useful GPS mapping application

Feb 20
Uncategorized

I just discovered this and wanted to give a heads up on a this cool little application/webservice called Sportypal
sorobangeeks. com /softwares/ sportypal-free%20download
It gives full info about the position, movement, distance, average speed and calories burned while cycling or any type of movement. I’m using it while cycling, I would like to try it with running too, to see how it works, but I still don’t have some arm wrapper for the phone. Anyone else already using it?

Cleaning 5DM2 sensor

Feb 2
Uncategorized

I am comfortable wet cleaning my Canon 20D APS sensor with swabs and cleaning fluid. But now it’s time to clean my 5DM2; this will require buying new swabs due to the larger sensor size. I also read the 5DM2 needs to use a different type of Eclipse cleaning fluid than I used on my 20D. Anyone have experience wet cleaning the 5DM2? What type of fluid did you use?

For the record, I have blow cleaned the sensor many times, but I got a dust spot the size of Montana that will not come off.

I called Canon service center to ask how much they charge for sensor cleaning, but they would not quote me a price unless they saw the camera. I was pretty surprise by that response. In case it matters, I would be taking it to the center in Irvine, California.

I’m also considering purchasing a 1 year membership to Canon Professional program for $100 which includes two camera cleanings each year.

Comments welcome,
Rich

Personal information:

I am 46 years old and I am married to my darling wife, Amity, 31. We celebrated our one year anniversary in June. We have both been married previously, and our remarriage is a scriptural union blessed by God. We have four children between us. Jessica, 21, is married and currently lives in Arlington, TX with her husband. Joshua, 20, is in the U.S. Air Force and is currently stationed in Washington State. Dylan, 15, is a sophomore in high school. He is active in choir, theater and has been in the school band in past years. He has led singing occasionally during Wednesday night devotionals and regularly assists on the Lord’s table. Janine, 8, is in the third grade and was baptized into Christ two weeks ago.

I was raised in a wonderful Christian home by my parents who were missionaries. I spent my childhood in Bermuda, Australia and Florida before attending Freed-Hardeman University where I obtained my B.S. in Bible. I preached for a few years before leaving the pulpit to go into secular work. I remained faithful and active in the congregations in which I have been a member – teaching classes when asked and taking an active part in all aspects of the worship assembly. I always knew where my calling was, and I have decided that it is time for me to return to ministry full-time.

Amity is co-founder of an online bible study message board. She has led ladies bible classes and has also led singing at ladies days. This past July, Amity was a speaker in a ladies class at the 2nd Annual Preacher’s Files Lectureship in Pelham, Alabama. All of this after studying herself out of denominationalism and finding her way to the Lord’s church in 2004!

We are both eager to work with a local congregation in which we can help the brethren reach the lost and meet the needs of the local community.
