Sensor cleaning

Feb 21
Uncategorized

I used the old Visible Dust brush for a while, then I got tired of the whole compressed air deal and started bringing my cameras to a local shop to be cleaned. The thing is, 3 cameras once a month at $50 each is becoming pretty expensive, and sometimes I don’t feel like they do the job perfectly.
I’ve seen the Visble Dust kit came a long way from when I used to use it, is it easier and more effective now?
What do you guys use, and why? Any special tips?

Sorry, but I’m a SW Engineer by profession and I am claiming that due to the fact that there have been multiple people reporting the same exact issue ONLY for the Calc app on this forum, it really is an installation BUG. A user should not be forced to go to the pain of uninstalling, cleaning the registry and re-installing OOo in order to MAYBE fix the problem. In my case. I didn’t even have a previous version installed. I simply installed OOo 3.3 on a new laptop with Win7. No upgrade from earlier version.

I respectfully request that somebody in the OOo development community identify the root cause, fix it and get it included in an update.

I already have a full time job along with a consulting job, so no, I won’t have time to join the OOo development community and fix the bug myself.

Best Regards,

Chipmunk on Symbian S60 Phones

Uncategorized

Hi there,

I created a small port for Symbian S60 Phones which I wanted to show you! I hope you like it and maybe someone can use it for future porjects

You get all information here:

http://forum.fantasyhaze.com/index.php? … readID=398

and a small video on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxNDmP0M5jg

Description of ChipmunkS60:

The Chipmunk port used the Symbian S60 5th edition application “MobilePaint” as basic application for the game engine. After porting the C code from the original Chipmunk PC version it was used to integrate it into the MobilePaint application. Finally the complemental part was adding a small engine to use the draw mechanism for creating objects.

Finally the last status of the project is that you can draw rectangles and circles which get a own physical state. Furthermore you can draw lines which can be used as static collision objects. By changing the drawing color you can increase the gravity, by using the stroke tool you can decrease the gravity. A button for cleaning the screen is also available. Everything is done by using the touch interface.

Restrictions of the Physic Engine:

Note: Due to the fact that most (well all by default so far) S60 phones don’t have hardware floating point support (Hardware – FPU), so any floating point maths is emulated in software and thus very slow – not good for a physics engine in fact but it runs anyway.

Gameplay (steering):

When starting the application you will have a white space where you can draw all things.
On the side you have a tool panel which can be clicked and moved whereever you want. You choose your tool and start painting. During painting the physics will not be enabled. After you have finished your stroke will be moved by physics.

You can choose following tools:

Clear Screen

Cleaning 5DM2 sensor

Feb 2
Uncategorized

I am comfortable wet cleaning my Canon 20D APS sensor with swabs and cleaning fluid. But now it’s time to clean my 5DM2; this will require buying new swabs due to the larger sensor size. I also read the 5DM2 needs to use a different type of Eclipse cleaning fluid than I used on my 20D. Anyone have experience wet cleaning the 5DM2? What type of fluid did you use?

For the record, I have blow cleaned the sensor many times, but I got a dust spot the size of Montana that will not come off.

I called Canon service center to ask how much they charge for sensor cleaning, but they would not quote me a price unless they saw the camera. I was pretty surprise by that response. In case it matters, I would be taking it to the center in Irvine, California.

I’m also considering purchasing a 1 year membership to Canon Professional program for $100 which includes two camera cleanings each year.

Comments welcome,
Rich
